Darryl Brian D'Souza Trustee, Brampton Wards 2, 5 & 6 Contact 416-528-8515 darryl.dsouza@dpcdsb.org About Darryl D'Souza was educated in a Catholic school in India and came to Surrey, British Columbia, Canada in 2004. While in British Columbia, Darryl was the president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at the Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Surrey, BC. He was a member of the outreach program that distributed food to the homeless in downtown east side Vancouver. Since moving to Brampton, Ontario in 2010, Darryl has been an active member of the Guardian Angels Parish, where he is a member of the Liturgical Hospitality Committee, Fund Raising Committee and a Eucharistic Minister. He is also an active member of the Knights of Columbus (3rd Degree) and volunteers at the St. Louise Outreach Centre of Peel Food Bank. Darryl is a graduate of the University of Bombay with a post graduate degree in Islamic Banking and Insurance from London, UK. He has been a banker for over 20 years and has held senior positions at banks including ANZ Grindlays Bank, HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, Citibank, JP Morgan Chase Bank, First Gulf Bank and The Royal Bank of Scotland in India, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and North America. Darryl currently works with a Global Business Process Outsourcing company where he is part of the consulting team for Business Transformation Services. As a practicing Catholic, husband and a father, I want to share in the joy of providing an education that addresses the spiritual, moral, academic and physical needs of our young people. Through facilitating policies and providing adequate resources in a Christian atmosphere, I would like to empower and encourage teachers and other staff to be inspirational and creative and to fulfill their ministry of evangelization through Catholic education. I will ensure and safeguard the integrity of the Catholic school system which is based on the religious ideals of our Catholic faith, and is dedicated to sharing gospel values through the life and programs in our schools. Darryl is newly elected as a trustee for Brampton Wards 2, 5 and 6 and is a member of the following standing committees: Administration and Finance Committee, Faith and Program Committee and By-Law/Policies Review Committee. He is also a member of the Special Education Advisory Committee, Challenged Material Committee and the Joint Ad Hoc Transportation Committee.

Working closely with parents, students, and community members, trustees help shape a vision for the board that reflects the values and needs of the community, including international students. Board of Trustees Dufferin-Peel’s Catholic schools are overseen by a board of 11 elected trustees. Trustees serve as system leaders of publicly funded education in their communities and province. They work collaboratively with their community to shape a vision for the board that is reflective of the input of parents, students and community members. Trustees advocate for excellence in education and act as role models to engender confidence in publicly funded education. In addition, Catholic school trustees have a clearly defined role as stewards and guardians of Catholic education. Three student trustee representatives (including an Indigenous student trustee), elected by their peers, also sit with the board in a non-voting capacity. Navigate to: Admission Requirements Application Requirements How to Apply Assessment and Registration Tuition Fees Refund Policy Admission Requirements Acceptance into DPCDSB's International Student Program and placement in a school will be determined by: The student’s educational background and present academic standing, as indicated on their transcripts. The availability of space in the International Student programs. Early enrolment is recommended. Applications for the academic year, starting September, will be accepted until June 15. Applications for the second semester will be accepted until October 15. Students must apply for and receive a Study Permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada before leaving their home country to attend a school in Canada. Guidelines and an application form can be found on the Citizenship and Immigration Canada Website or at the Canadian Embassy in your home country. How to Apply The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) welcomes students from all over the world. We accept applications from International Students who wish to study in our secondary (Grade 9-12) schools. Please follow the instructions below to start the application process. Early enrollment is recommended. Certain programs have limited space. All students must apply for, and receive, a Study Permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada before leaving their home country to attend school in Canada. Assessment and Registration Students may attend school immediately upon registration, although placement in class will be made once testing and assessment is completed. All international students will be sent to the Dufferin-Peel Newcomer Reception and Assessment Centre prior to admission to class for determination of grade level and language assistance. Course selection and class scheduling will take place at the assigned school. Homestay Information The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board is working with Muskoka Languages International to provide homestay opportunities for our International students. Muskoka Languages International will help students find a safe, caring, and nurturing “home away from home” environment. Muskoka Languages International will work with the school board to ensure that the host families support and care for the student as their own child; the intention is to make the student feel like a member of the family. Fees are subject to change without notice. The application fee is non-refundable. Proof of private health insurance coverage for the duration of the study period. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that during their entire stay, health insurance remains active. DPCDSB's sole provider of student insurance for International students is StudyInsured. Refund Policy In the event that a student does not come to Canada or decides to leave Canada for personal reasons, the following refund policy will apply. All refund requests will be reviewed on a case by case basis. For refunds, students must provide: A written refund request by the parent including the name and address of the person to receive the refund. The original DPCDSB Letter of Acceptance and receipt of fee payment. The original Letter of Rejection from the Canadian Embassy. Full Refund Conditions: If a Study Permit is denied, the tuition and insurance fees will be fully refunded, minus: $250 CAD Application Fee $500 CAD Administrative Fee If a change in immigration status occurs during the program, refunds are considered on an individual basis (Permanent Status only). No refund will be granted for the term in which the student is currently enrolled. If a partial refund is granted, it will be subject to the refund charge in place at the time of the request. Refund Exclusions No refunds will be issued for the following reasons: If the student is found in violation of school regulations and is asked to withdraw. Admissions Admission Requirements Application Requirements How to Apply Assessment and Registration Fees Refund Policy Application Requirements The following items must be submitted with each application: Completed Application Form The International Student Program application form must be completed in English and submitted. Fees and Proof of Payment Application fees, applicable tuition fees and student insurance fees are due upon application, payable by wire transfer to the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board. All fees are subject to change without notice. The application fee is non-refundable. Transcripts Original transcripts from the current year and the last two years (in English). Photocopies must be certified with an official school stamp. Notarized English documents are also acceptable. Failure to comply may delay or return the application. Vaccination Records Proof of vaccinations against tuberculosis, mumps, measles, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, and polio is required. Student Health Insurance Proof of student health insurance for the entire study period is mandatory. Students must ensure their insurance remains active throughout their stay. The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board will not be liable for lapsed coverage. The sole provider of DPCDSB international students' insurance is StudyInsured . Custodianship Declaration Form All international students under the age of 18 are required to provide the following information in the Custodian Declaration form : A custodianship declaration completed by the parent in the country of origin, stating that arrangements have been made for a custodian* to act in the place of the parent. This document must be notarized in the country of origin. A custodianship declaration completed by the appointed custodian who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident over the age of 19, stating that arrangements have been made for the custodian to act in place of a parent in emergencies. This document must be notarized in Canada. * Any students under the age of 18 are required to name a responsible adult guardian as a custodian with whom they must live. The custodian will take responsibility for the student and will ensure that the student's accommodations and other living expenses such as food, clothing and transportation are provided. Should circumstances change, the school board must be notified within 48 hours and new custodial documents may be required. If the custodian does not meet their obligations, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board has the right to withdraw the student without refund. Have questions about application requirements?
